 The Power Self - Awareness

God has made every individual special, with something unique and distinct. It’s just that we are ignorant and unaware of it. We are unique because we connect to every human being on earth in some way or the other and this gives us the gifts of empathy and compassion that develops faith in each other. There’s an intrinsic connection between us that describes us as indefinable.

The world we live in is constantly changing, but we are also not always aware of the subtle changes taking place within ourselves, in our perception and behaviour, in the way we relate to each other and our goals in life. The tumultuous times of change we live with are proving to be much more subtle than anticipated. Even more, we fail to see the major causes which are responsible for generating these changes for better or worse.

Over the years, as you grow up, from a child into career-making, home-making and raising families of your own, your attention is so focused upon the demands of the outside world that you tend to lose your own individuality. We learn to intentionally hold our thoughts and feelings to our own selves. We forget that we too are born with some specialty or the other that is hidden by our duties, liabilities and responsibilities for others.

When we get so engrossed towards performing our duties that we also get unidentified with our sensations.  Who is happy? Me.  Who is angry, tired, frustrated . . . ?  Me.  Our feelings acquire names, and at the same time, we are judged by those feelings. We can only discover the true inner self in silence as to: who I am? What I want to be? What are my liking's? What exactly I want to do…? Even if we are troubled and confused, this non-reactive quality of presence to ourselves allows us to restore ourselves to a sense of wholeness. This power of awareness is esoteric, but there is nothing surreptitious about being attentive as the future for humanity is not ambiguous.

This real inner self, that accordingly seems to be extinct, is always alive within us, giving us the strength to fight for our survival in the outer world without even being aware of it.

Each person’s inner self is cultivated and treasured for its uniqueness and there is always potential for self-improvement. Along with this inner development, comes a clearer sense of intuition with a better insight with which we easily identify the best course of action to successfully meet any challenge. Along with this also comes synchronicity and life begins to fold around our envisioned plan of action, supporting it by providing opportunities and resources just when they are needed the most.

We all should spare some time for our own selves and find the answers of the question of ‘W’ family i.e. which, why, where, what, whom etc. for example which is are favourite colour and why is it favourite? Whom do we want to talk with and why? Such type of questions will not only help us in discovering ourselves, but will also help us in solving issues arising in our daily life. Watching television, playing computer or mobile games, listening to music with earphones always takes us far away from our own self. Instead going for a walk, sitting in isolation for some time thinking, lying down and relaxing and thinking etc. shall strengthen our persona giving us a new perspective approach towards life. Life that once seemed to be tough and boring shall be full of enthusiasm and happiness.

This new self-awareness focuses upon knowing ourselves through self-realization and self-development as our sense of responsibility becomes powered by love rather than fear and we are totally transformed. We do no harm to others because we love our people, not because we are afraid of anything, it’s just because our awareness has grown into matured adulthood. We no longer need to be told what to do, how to think, or what our place in life ‘should’ be. In this light of self-awareness where we ripen a sense of unconditional love for ourselves, our self-esteem is boosted and restored in the knowledge that every person has a unique gift (quality/ability) to offer the world and this internal awakening that we too are special and can contribute with something precious, gives rise to a new era into our lives.

We need to discover and strengthen that inner awareness within us to set an example to others that, life is meant to be lived with togetherness and fulfilment which comes when we all follow the same path to become stronger, we can then lead a life of spontaneous fulfilment even with greater external pressures.

With that goal in mind, we should set up a daily schedule to practice meditation or go for walk or can even spend some time in isolation giving few minutes of self-actualization also to become stronger and tougher. It is Human nature that if we are self-aware, we tend to take it negatively and enter the domain of the being self-centered and mean, sulking our immediate consciousness once again into that of detachment and biasedness.  There is nothing wrong in discovering our real selves as the power of awareness shall always strengthen our spiritual muscles, by bringing us over and over again, into the immediate present, as each and every movement back to awareness grounds into a new dynamic and confident personality.

Self-awareness restores us to a more complete consciousness and this doesn't necessarily mean that our problems disappear, but as we exercise the power of awareness, our reflexive reactivity diminishes and it gives us the power to start from a fresh, open and less conditioned life.
