SIX GOLDEN RULES
TOWARDS SUCCESS
1. HAVE A VISION
a) Dream Big
b) Visualize your success
c) Set objective and result oriented
goals that build to those objectives.
Ø
Aim high, think positive and make your vision
sighted.
Ø
How to visualize effectively?
How to visualize effectively?
VISION: A
GOAL TOWARDS WHICH ONE ASPIRES. |
Find
a quiet place where you can relax and visualize in your mind’s eye what from
your life and business you want. Think Big. Be far sighted. Reach for the sky.
Imagine
that the success has already happened….There you are, in your mind’s eye,
enjoying your success. Visualize it. Picture what you are wearing. Who you are
with, what you are doing, what you are saying.
Visualize
yourself telling someone the story of success to, of what you have achieved.
Make it real in your mind’s eye. Now you are imagining what it feels like to
have already succeeded in your chosen endeavours.
You are painting a picture of
your dream life business.
Focus
on all this for a few minutes. Crystallize your vision
Focus
on your dream achievements.
2. USE YOUR INFLUENCE
INFLUENCE : IS MORE THAN ACCESS
|
Ø
Don’t be so self-absorbed that you ignore the
needs of those people around you or ignore the opportunities to learn, share
and grow.
Ø
Realize that no matter how much self-belief you
have, there are times when everyone needs others. As soon as you think you know
it all, you’ll realize you didn’t know as much as you thought you did. Entrance
influence.
How to use your influence?
a) Use
your skills to seize opportunities that create win-win relationships and
situations.
b) Make
the most of those opportunities. Be influenced to take action.
c) Learn
always. Never stop learning. Soak up knowledge, skills and contacts.
d) Put
what you have learned into practice.
e) Use
your influence, motivate, persuade and impress others and get them on board.
f) Delegate
tasks that are not the best use of your time. Use you influence to move others
to take action with you.
3. BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE.
CONFIDENCE: HELPS REACH AMAZING HEIGHTS |
• With confidence you can reach those
truly amazing heights whereas without it even the simplest accomplishments are
beyond your grasp.
• Breakdown challenges and obstacles
to overcome each hurdle one by one.
• Remove the word ‘Failure” from your
dictionary/ vocabulary and you may substitute it with ‘Feed Back’ if desired.
• Learn from mistakes and feedbacks
(failures). Use them as feedbacks to know what not to do the next time.
CONFIDENCE: - How to get the balance right?
a) Avoid compliancy. Market change,
business can be volatile. Confidence is permanent, but overconfidence can be
counterproductive. The difference between natural and worthy confidence and
arrogance, complacency or overconfidence is that confident people know they
don’t know it all and have openness to learning that arrogant, overconfident
people do not have. Confident people aren’t afraid to ask questions as arrogant
people are.
b) Learn from your own mistakes and
those made by others. Learn from my mistakes and protect your business. Get
insurances and credit checks on customers, always. And don’t put your all eggs
in one basket. Spread your business income over a range of clients to limit
potential damage to your business.
c) Evaluate feedbacks continuously.
Don’t get so caught up in the day to day running that you do not even have time
to step back and check key areas or are so busy that you forget to evaluate
risks.
d) Do not let overconfidence lead to
overindulgence. Don’t spend money you haven’t got by buying flash cars. Make
money first. Watch where you spend your money and on what? Keep costs to the
minimum.
e) Feel your confidence flourish as you
gain more feedback and equip yourself with more knowledge. Whether that’s
through failing or succeeding. Feel confident that you are better equipped.
Set
target dates for achieving your results. Analyze the results you are and aren’t
getting. How can you improve your results? What would it take to make those improvements?
How to make things Happen?
- Think big but pace yourself. Develop your tempo.
- Build a plan based upon the results you believe
are actually possible to achieve.
- Question your result driven goals rigorously to
test their believability. Make your goals and targets achievable. Uncover
what your competitors are doing. How are they achieving success?
- Work out ways to achieve those results to gain
your objectives.
- Reward yourself and all in achieving results and
hitting the targets. Keep that momentum going?
4. SET GOALS TO MOTIVATE YOU
MOTIVATION:
NEVER GIVE UP TRY AND
TRY TILL YOU SUCCEED
|
Motivation
will always beat mere talents but demotivation destroys talents and crushes its
head ungratefully on to the ground. So you should never give up: go over, go
under, go around or go through but never give up. When you set goals for
yourself, it is important that they motivate you: this means making sure that
they are important to you, and that there is value in achieving them. If you
have little interest in the outcome, or they are irrelevant given the larger
picture, then the chances of you putting in the work to make them happen are
slim. Motivation is key to achieving goals.
Set
goals that relate to the high priorities in your life. Without this type of
focus, you can end up with far too many goals, leaving you too little time to
devote to each one. Goal achievement requires commitment, so to maximize the
likelihood of success, you need to feel a sense of urgency and have an "I
must do this" attitude. When you don't have this, you risk putting off
what you need to do to make the goal a reality. This in turn leaves you feeling
disappointed and frustrated with yourself, both of which are de-motivating. And
you can end up in a very destructive "I can't do anything or be successful
at anything" frame of mind.
5. MAKE A COMMITMENT
COMMITMENT:
FULFILL THEM
|
Commitment
is an essential part of repentance. It is the act of obligating oneself to a
course of action and then diligently following through on that decision. When
people are genuinely committed, then they are actually determined and fully
intend to do what they have decided to do. They make a firm and sincere
decision not to change. One of the best ways to help people make and keep
commitments is to extend a commitment invitation. Extending and subsequently
following upon commitment invitations is vital because:
•
People live the principles they learn and feel confirmed that whatever they are
doing correct.
•
Repentance and change will help people conquer challenges, rid themselves of
shame and guilt, and experience the peace and joy of forgiveness.
• Keeping
commitments prepares people to make them a man of words. Your word of mouth is
taken as an answer.
What kinds of commitments do you make?
We
are a very non-committal cultured people and there are a few people who do not
like making commitments. If a commitment is a private one, then it can be taken
lightly resulting it slide or fudge. Such a practice really doesn’t help one
grow. But public commitment helps any one to keep the commitment. It is that
commitment which marks our respect and status in the society. It’s a public commitment that can help anyone
to stretch and challenge one’s own self.
When
you fail to keep a commitment your brain immediately starts looking for a
cause. Sometimes it looks for a scapegoat. How futile and disempowering this
attitude is, we can understand. Perhaps instead of blaming circumstances you
blame your own lack of willpower or level of self-discipline. If only you had
more willpower then it would have been easy to stick with my goal.
Until
you find a way to somehow increase your willpower or self-discipline, you will
still keep failing to keep your commitments. So make as many commitments you
can?
6. TAKE ACTION FAST AT THE RIGHT TIME.
THE RIGHT TIME: PLAN YOUR ACTIONS |
This
step is often missed in the process of goal setting. You get so focused on the
outcome that you forget to plan all of the steps that are needed along the way.
Write down your Action Plan for each step you should take to proceed towards
your goal. Action Plans are useful, because they give you a framework for
thinking about how you'll complete a project efficiently. They help you finish
activities in a sensible order, and they help you ensure that you don't miss
any key steps. Also, because you can see each task laid out, you can quickly
decide which tasks you'll delegate or outsource, and which tasks you may be
able to ignore. For instance, how do you make sure that you've covered
everything? Are there any actions that need to be taken early on in the project
for it to succeed? And are you clear about when you need to do key tasks, in
what sequence, to meet your deadline? By writing out the individual steps, and
then crossing each one off as you complete it, you'll realize that you are
making progress towards your ultimate goal. This is especially important if
your goal is big and demanding, or long-term.
